Get Outta Delaware Park Week 9: Politics!

I hate election day.  This year’s sucked worse than most. I got the day off this year (yea!!!!) but instead of getting to sit around all day in my pajamas and play Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 on N64 or “read” (aka watch my WWE The Rock: The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment DVD), I had to get my lazy ass up to Wilson Elementary school to vote in an election where all I knew was who I didn’t want to win.  I didn’t care who won, as long as this individual lost, I’d know that I’d done…

Get Outta Delaware Park Week 8: Evan Turner Ain’t Ever Scared!

Ok, so the Sixers kicked off the 2010-11 NBA season yesterday with a predictable loss to the Heat. What wasn’t predictable? Evan Turner played like a stud. Look at this stat line: 16 pts on 7-10 shooting, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. And he did this with Lebron James and Dwyane Wade guarding him all night. In his NBA debut. Narsty. Turner played the way we all want Iguodala to play: hungry, aggressive and simply not scared at all of anybody. Iggy played like he always does: scared, content to shoot jumpers, lethargic. He’ll be traded this season to…

Which Trilogy is Better?

Ok, so to get my mind off of the Phillies failure, the Raiders went out and historically curb stomped those dirty Denver Donkeys.  Yea!!!  But unfortunately, that euphoria didn’t last and as the reality of the Giants/Rangers world series (Ugh, I just threw up in my mouth) set in, I realized that I needed a little pick me up.  My pick me up of choice?  Taco night with a side of that Nic Cage classic:  Face/Off!  And wow, I was not disappointed. As far as acting goes, I don’t think it gets any worse than Travolta and Cage in…

Get Outta Delaware Park Week 7: Stupid Rodeo Clown

And that’s that. The Phillies are done. (And here is where an older sports writer would insert: Finished. Defeated. Kaputz). Done in by the hand of a freaking rodeo clown reject. Did anyone else read that story about Cody Ross not becoming a rodeo clown to become a major league baseball player? I didn’t. But I did read the headline and all I could think of was: This!? This is who we’re losing too!? This!!!!!!?????? A stupid rodeo clown? Man oh man, what has happened to our beloved Phillies? Their pitching has been ok, if you can ignore the…

Get Outta Delaware Park Week 6: The Biggoron Sword

Heyo.  I’m a little late posting my picks this week for two reasons. 1.) It’s been crazy at work.  Moreso at my job coaching than my other job writing. 2.) I’ve started playing Legend of Zelda The Ocarina of Time again and that game is the grrrrrrreeeatest game of all time.  No joke.  Look it up.  So yeah, while I’ve been searching for eye drops to get me that Biggoron Sword, I’ve been negelecting my duties here at Theheadrush, and I haven’t been walking my dog or cleaning my cats litter box.  They’re crying, but I ain’t hearing it. …

Get Outta Delaware Park Week 5: Historically Wrong

Ok, so yesterday, I was going to write a column about how nervous I was for Game 1 of the NLDS, about how Halladay had never pitched in a big game and how the fact that all the pundits were picking the Phillies to win it all was a bad omen. I was going to write how I thought the Phils would lose game 1. Holy balls was I wrong. Not just wrong. Historically wrong. Of all the things I have written on this website that have been wrong, that one would’ve been a doozy. Glad I was too…

Get Outta Delaware Park Week 4: It’s Never Funny in Philadelphia

Oh my. How did it ever come to this?  I’m not talking about my atrocious NFL gambling picks—I know I ain’t got no feel—I’m talking about the recent shittyness of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Holy balls have they been bad.  I’ve seen two outta the three episodes this year and I think I laughed maybe twice.  Let’s put it this way, when I’d rather watch Pauly D and Ronnie say “It’s Teeeeeeee-shirrrrrrrrrtttt Tiiiimmmmmeeee” than an episode of Sunny, it’s not a good thing.  So how did we get here?  The first three seasons were gold.  The show couldn’t…
