Some days you wake up and the sun is shining and all is right with the world.  But let’s rewind a bit first. Last night I saw Bela Fleck and the Flecktones at the Wilmington Grand Opera House, and after an incredible 3 hours of the best musicianship I’ve seen in quite some time (the thrill of seeing the Flecktones is knowing that you’re going to see arguably the best banjo player in Fleck and arguably best bassist in Victor Wooten, and Vic’s brother Future Man and his drumitar and nifty hat), it was time to go home. After…

Valdez Pitches a Gem, Punches Bastardo in Celebration

Adam and I were talking about posting some NBA Finals predictions, but once we both figured out that our predictions were the exact same, there wasn’t much point. Heat in 5. After last night… Heat in 4. For the sake of saving face, David Stern might even give the trophy out on game 3. I was thinking maybe Dallas would steal game 1 but I guess the Heat have decided to play every game this series. That’s really all it comes down to. Jim Tressel resigned this week (or was fired, I’m not sure which) after attempting to cover…

1.) This summer has a potential for two awesomely bad movies, the likes of which haven’t been seen since Red Dawn.  I’m talking about “The Rise of the Planet of the Apes” and that Hugh Jackman movie where he teaches a robot to box or some sort of nonsense like that. Why is there a picture of James Franco in a lab coat you ask?  Because it’s HIS FAULT!  He is the one who makes the monkeys smart!  Damn you, Franco! If you haven’t checked out the trailers yet, do yourself a favor and watch em.  Now, while the…

Like That Bron-Bron? Had That Long Time Ago.

Good lord. Lebron James and the Miami Heat are definitely going to win a championship now. Whatever life the Bulls were trying to salvage was crushed last night. Derrick Rose attempted to ‘be more aggressive’ in the game, and it worked, for a bit. The first half, Rose was dunking on fools, dropping sweet jumpers, and dishing out great assists. The second half, Lebron James basically shut down everything Rose was trying to do, and Chicago didn’t have ‘a big 2’ to fall back on. James is a scary man (aside from that very feminine embrace he had with…

1.) If I could dunk, every time I slammed the ball through the hoop I would scream “Kali Ma!”  and raise my hand like the dude from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom as I ran back down the court. There are three ways I could do this: Maybe like “Kali (as I float through the air) and then MA! (as I slam the ball down on some dude’s face). Or maybe like a quick “Kali Ma!” As I go up. And of course, there’s always the option of dunking and then just bellowing to the heavens “KALI…

Where Are The Bats??

I know, I know. Stop hitting the panic button. It’s mid-May and the Phillies’ offensive slump has hit. We all knew it was coming since Spring Training. The entire off-season people were concerned with Jayson Werth’s absence hurting the line up and now they have fuel for the fire. Last night might have been the most frustrating. After a dismal 8 innings of poor offensive production, the Phils got a break when defensive replacement Tyler Greene dropped a routine pop-fly allowing a runner on base. Naturally, when an error occurs in baseball, it often spells doom. Martinez gets a…

Spiraling Down the Halls of Boredom

It’s just another bland Tuesday. The OKC are taking on the Dallas Mavericks tonight and from what it sounds like, everyone has their money on the Mavs. I don’t know what to think of this series. Oklahoma had some trouble getting past the Grizzlies, but I credit that more to Memphis than anything else. They were a young team with very little to lose playing their hearts out. Oklahoma had a lot to deal with. Dallas is just a team that I can never believe in. I can’t bring myself to say “Dallas is going all the way this…
