The Thunder Are Built to Last

Built to last till time itself falls tumbling from the wall Built to last till sunshine fails and darkness moves on all Built to last while years roll past like cloudscapes in the sky Show me something built to last or someone built to try—Grateful Dead Bill Walton would be proud. Starting out an article using a Grateful Dead song to describe an NBA team. That song–I think–is about how nothing lasts forever, not even TIME (far out). My counter argument to the Grateful Dead would be to look at the Oklahoma City Thunder. They my friends, are built…

Maybe The Raiders Really Are Getting Hosed

Compiled and analyzed by our long time friend, the Wolfman A statistical evaluation of Oakland Raider penalties over the past nine seasons of play (2003 to 2011) reveals evidence that Raider teams are indeed over penalized. During this time period the Raiders have finished 27th or worse in the 32 team National Football League in average penalties per game a staggering eight times. In fact, the Raiders have led the league in average penalties against four times during this time period. During this time period Oakland has had multiple coaches and personnel, each with different standards of discipline. However,…

Goodbye Facebook

So, after thinking about it for a month now, I finally made the step and deleted my facebook account. I can’t really say what the final “straw” was that made me decide to rid myself of the social media monolith, but it had been getting pretty annoying as of late and last night I finally decided that it was time to move on. The funny thing is, when you try to delete your facebook account (or at least “deactivate” it which is what I did…the first step on the road to recovery), they immediately take you to a page…

About the NBA

I hate to be the 10000000000th person online to compare the NBA to the WWE, but come on. They’re making it really hard not to. Last night, the Hornets, who the NBA still owns until July, won the first overall pick in the NBA Draft. Shocking. This isn’t just a little bit fishy, this is like when Vince McMahon won the Royal Rumble. Nobody thought, ‘How did that happen?’ Everyone thought, ‘Oh yeah, he owns the company, he can do whatever he wants.’ That’s what the NBA has become. And that’s why, well, it kinda sucks. It should be…

What You Should Be Listening To, Right Now.

It was a good run Sixers. The season ended in dramatic fashion, and I’ll stand by my statement after Game 6 of the series, “Even if the Sixers lose, I’ll be happy with their effort, and this season.” It still holds true. Game 7 went about exactly how I predicted, but none the less, I still feel satisfied. Going toe to toe with the Boston Celtics and beating the Bulls can both be viewed as accomplishments, and should be. With the Flyers out, the Sixers out, and the Phillies imploding, there isn’t much that I really feel like discussing…

Avengers….ASSEMBLE!

I’ll try my best to keep this spoiler free, but in all reviews, it’s kind of tough to not give away some aspects of the movie.  So if you haven’t seen the Avengers yet, you may want to wait until reading this. I saw the Avengers on Wednesday and it certainly lived up to the hype.  But before we get into that, let me just say, if you live in the Newark area, I highly recommend going to see a movie at Newark Cinema Center 3 in the Newark Shopping Center as opposed to Regal People’s Plaza Cinema 17. …

Ricky Williams Talks Concussions

This interview is Ricky Williams on Dan LeBatard’s Highly Questionable on May 15th. I had to admit, watching the 30 for 30 on Ricky Williams made me quite fond of this guy. I enjoyed hearing a different perspective on sports from a guy that realized he wasn’t, nor should be, in debt to it. After watching this interview, however, he’s definitely gone down a peg or two in my book. Trying to downplay the scientific research stating the link between concussions and football is mind-blowing. Yes, I understand you take more steps to “heal” yourself, Ricky, during the off-season,…
