The Super Quick Picks

It’s Thursday! That means the games for Week 7 start tonight. That means my picks for this week are going to be just as good as last week! First, how did I do last week? 8 of 13. Not too shabby, I must say. I called the Jets game. Called the Bucs. Almost called the Cowboys minus half a point. Second, if you haven’t noticed, our latest Tweet doesn’t show up in Chooch’s quote box anymore!! Twitter has literally revamped their entire API, meaning all the thousands of people who used to embed Tweets without their gay-ass widget can’t…

Matt Cord Returns as Sixers PA Announcer!!!

Last year, Matt Cord was promoted, of sorts, in the Sixers organization and no longer held the title of PA announcer from all of the Sixers’ games in Wells Fargo. Tom Lamaine filled the position during the very short 2011-12 season and basically destroyed it. For 2 reasons: 1) Tom Lamaine compared play-by-play announcing at a basketball game to weather reports on the weekly news 2) Matt Cord was probably the coolest PA announcer in the history of basketball Seriously, it was so awesome hearing Matt Cord scream “AAAANDREEEYYYY IGUUOOOOOO (pause) DALA DALA DALA DALA!!!” during home games. He…

Makin’ Some Picks Ya’ll

Hey there friends! The bland 2 days you have to spend without football are over! The Pittsburgh Steelers are getting ready to take on the Tennessee Titans (yawn), but before I get to that, I have some fodder. I just finished reading a story on Yahoo where a drunk girl in Colorado apparently wandered into some mansion that wasn’t hers, so when the home owner discovered her, he shot her in the hip. She was 3 times the legal alcohol limit and may have been given a date-rape drug. Police noted that her statements were incredibly incoherent and she…

Week 4 Picks and Fodder

The Refs are back!! Sweet mercy, the refs are back!! And that’s literally all I want to say about that. By 3pm last Tuesday, I was already sick of hearing about the terrible call the refs made, how they sucked, what was happening with the new refs, blah blah blah. All is well now… If there’s one thing that I noticed about last night’s game, too, it’s that it was… well… kinda boring and normal. Things were controlled and a lot less tense. I guess that’s cool…. The Phillies disappointed like we all expected. This is a weird time…

On The Streets of Philadelphia

It was a pretty big week in the world of Philadelphia sports. I have recently moved to the upper-east side of Elkton, Maryland (which makes it sound like a city…. trust me, it is not.) The reason I mention this is because anyone who lives in Maryland gets 0, count em, 0 Philadelphia sports. It’s absolutely horrifying. Literally twenty seconds North, or twenty seconds South, I would be privileged to have all the Sixers, Flyers, Eagles, and Phillies I need…. legally. Now, I have to resort to some alternative methods in order to watch my teams. Trust me, those…
