Spencer Hawes Rants on ObamaCare, Diminishes Already Small Fanbase

Hold the presses! Spencer Hawes is officially against “ObamaCare” and he wants everyone to know that! I certainly don’t want to get into a debate about whether you are for or against the Senate ruling that occurred over the mandated health insurance reform, but I DO want to show some wonderful antics from our favorite under-achieving 7ft center, Spencer Hawes. Say what you will about his play (which I just did by calling him under-achieving), but Adam and I both had no idea that Spencer Hawes, the 76ers player, was so damn conservative. Apparently he was all worked up…

A Quick, Ridiculously Conflicted Rant of College Football Playoffs

I wanted to write about Chase Utley’s debut last night, and his forthcoming start for the Phillies tonight, but I jinx everything, so instead I’m going to discuss something that I have absolutely no emotional investment in whatsoever. Yesterday, a bunch of college presidents had an official announcement of their agreement to move to a 4-seed playoff structure. Did you recognize anyone of those guys? They were made for TV about as much as John Clayton is made for HD (HIYOOOO!) I’ve gone through a terrible swing of opinions about this subject in the past 48 hours, so if…

Mark Cuban Crushes Skip Bayless, ESPN in General

All too often ESPN’s analysts over-generalize about everything in sports in an attempt to “dumb-down” their coverage. Skip Bayless may be the epitome of this. In turn, Mark Cuban destroys him. Also note how silent Stephen A. Smith is. He’s just trying to keep his job.

Simple Thoughts

Adam said my last post was a little grumpy. I promise this one won’t be as bad. Lebron is going back to Cleveland. I know, I know, it sounds absolutely absurd, but all of the pieces are starting to align in that direction. He’s already alluded to the possibility of going back to Cleveland earlier this season. If the Miami Heat lose the NBA Finals (which, it’s kinda looking that way), James will be stuck in a position that he won’t find comfortable. He already hates being the bad guy. He hates the persona. 49 of the 50 states…

Phillies’ Troubles Continue, Fans Make It Worse

Hey gang. It’s been a long while since I’ve wrote. What can I say? Unfortunately, for this time of year, sports are in a lull and the Phillies aren’t necessarily wowing me. I attended one of the losses to the Dodgers last week that resulted in us being historically swept, and historically bad. Yuck. Even after seeing 3 games in person this year, I have yet to actually sit through and entire game this season. It’s just pretty hard to watch. There have been instances for an entire game where there is just nothing to cheer for. During that…

Maybe The Raiders Really Are Getting Hosed

Compiled and analyzed by our long time friend, the Wolfman A statistical evaluation of Oakland Raider penalties over the past nine seasons of play (2003 to 2011) reveals evidence that Raider teams are indeed over penalized. During this time period the Raiders have finished 27th or worse in the 32 team National Football League in average penalties per game a staggering eight times. In fact, the Raiders have led the league in average penalties against four times during this time period. During this time period Oakland has had multiple coaches and personnel, each with different standards of discipline. However,…

What You Should Be Listening To, Right Now.

It was a good run Sixers. The season ended in dramatic fashion, and I’ll stand by my statement after Game 6 of the series, “Even if the Sixers lose, I’ll be happy with their effort, and this season.” It still holds true. Game 7 went about exactly how I predicted, but none the less, I still feel satisfied. Going toe to toe with the Boston Celtics and beating the Bulls can both be viewed as accomplishments, and should be. With the Flyers out, the Sixers out, and the Phillies imploding, there isn’t much that I really feel like discussing…
