Mel Kiper Jr., Spawn of Satan

I felt compelled to write this. For several reasons. 1) I’m a Panthers fan, so the recent draft talk has definitely been a concern of mine. 2) I just saw his “Fast Five” promo on TV and wanted to throw up on myself. 3) I watched this youtube video and it confirmed my suspicions that Mel Kiper Jr. is in fact hated by everyone in the NFL…. except Keith Olbermann…. but that guy’s a douche too… so whatever. Observe : I’m desperately trying my best to find that Fast and Furious promo he did, but I’m having some difficulty….

Bring the King. It’s a Great Day in Philly.

Man it feels good to be writing this post. The Philadelphia Phillies swept the San Diego Padres in 4 games. The Flyers somehow brought the Sabres to OT and won, forcing a game 7. Aaaaaand…. After 7 very long, very strenuous games with the Miami Heat this season, the Philadelphia 76ers have finally walked away with a victory. Every game was within reach and followed the exact same pattern, except this one. Typically, the 76ers start the game off well and outscore the Heat. Then, through fouls and amazing shots, the Heat climb back in and make a final…

“Philly”-Bot Gives the Opening Pitch

University of Pennsylvania’s science department created a robot to throw out the first pitch (or just pitches in general I guess) at Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday. I saw this thing throwing pitches on TV to Sarge before the game, so it went a little better than this. Stage fright robot? Robots are learning human emotions!! Somebody save John Connor!! But, to be fair, I gotta say that humans can be equally as bad. Cue Adam Corolla’s triple First Pitch sequence :

Fantasy Baseball is No Longer a Fantasy

It’s a nightmare. I remember watching the ESPN 30 for 30 about the start of fantasy baseball, and they made it sound so cool and neat. Our league (seen above) is turning out pretty nice actually. Aside from our buddy Sweede dropping Brandon Marrow and Chase Utley instead of putting them on the DL slots given, it’s been a pretty tight race. Everyone has pretty decent squads, including yours truly, who happens to have the 2nd best record after week 1. Big deal right? Right. Who’s got the best record? Nonchalant Brendan. Of course he does. You know that…

The Saddest Sixers Post of the Year

Man, things are looking ugly. Lou Williams is still uncertain about his playoff chances. The Sixers clinched the 7th seed spot. The Heat clinched the 2nd seed. We are doomed. If the Celtics ended up holding the 2nd seed, or New York didn’t climb back into the 6th seed, I would have said we had a chance at a playoff series victory, but now, we don’t have a chance in hell. Let’s take a look at the regular season games between the Sixers/Heat shall we? October 27th, 2010 – The Heat visit Philadelphia for the 2nd game of the…
