Fake News, Real Headlines

Article by The Wolfman These are actual headlines found on various websites. The news created here is entirely untrue – but if you want to read the real article, we have provided the appropriate links for you to follow. Enjoy! Rouge dolphin, alone after Katrina, menaces lake area Former Dolphin great Dan Marino has been on a rampage of late in the quaint lakeside village of Palmetto Springs, after separating from his wife Katrina. Residents have seen Marino at night knocking over mailboxes, throwing eggs at people, and sometimes, howling at the moon. Since going rouge, there has been…

Reverse Jinx FAIL

1.) If you didn’t already figure it out, I was hoping that yesterday’s post would prove to be enough of a reverse jinx to prevent the Heat from winning the title (sort of like what happened to the Wolfman in fantasy football). But alas, that was not the case. Lebron proved to much for the Thunder, and the geek finally got his championship. Drats. Once again, we must be reminded of the harsh lesson learned from the soused mind of Don Draper: “The universe is indifferent.” Indeed. 2.) I skimmed Bill Simmons column yesterday and in it he left this…

Congratulations on the Championship Lebron!

1.) In less than 24 hours, Lebron James will have his first NBA title. This much we know. The Oklahoma City Thunder (who one Headrush writer proclaimed were ‘Built to Last’ before covering himself and picking the Heat to win the championship), have folded like a chair. They look like scared kittens about to be put in a box Milo style and sent down the river by Lebron. This thing is over. The only thing that I know for sure–besides that the Heat will win tonight–is that this is the worst case scenario for the NBA. I watched PTI…

The Jinx

Article By the Wolfman All too often in following sports we attribute outcomes (at least in my family and circle of friends) to things that we do during the course of a game. When things are going wrong we switch jerseys, change seats, flip channels, or turn our hats backwards. Of course, we are usually hundreds of miles away from where these events take place, often thousands, so it is very unlikely that we have any real impact on the outcome whatsoever. Yet, for some reason every time Randy writes something positive about the Sixers we all cringe. And…

Why Would you Want to be a Referee?

1.) Seriously, who ARE these people?  Why in the world would anyone ever want to be a referee?  I can’t think of a more thankless job. During these NBA Finals, all I’ve heard is “These refs are calling too many fouls!  Just let them play!”  OK, fair argument. They are calling a ton of fouls.  But then last night, when Kevin Durant goes up for a shot with a chance to tie the game, he gets “fouled” by Lebron, the referee doesn’t call the foul, instead he let’s them play…which is what everyone has been calling for…and now everyone…

The Thunder Are Built to Last

Built to last till time itself falls tumbling from the wall Built to last till sunshine fails and darkness moves on all Built to last while years roll past like cloudscapes in the sky Show me something built to last or someone built to try—Grateful Dead Bill Walton would be proud. Starting out an article using a Grateful Dead song to describe an NBA team. That song–I think–is about how nothing lasts forever, not even TIME (far out). My counter argument to the Grateful Dead would be to look at the Oklahoma City Thunder. They my friends, are built…

Goodbye Facebook

So, after thinking about it for a month now, I finally made the step and deleted my facebook account. I can’t really say what the final “straw” was that made me decide to rid myself of the social media monolith, but it had been getting pretty annoying as of late and last night I finally decided that it was time to move on. The funny thing is, when you try to delete your facebook account (or at least “deactivate” it which is what I did…the first step on the road to recovery), they immediately take you to a page…
