The Moon Rises, the Phillies Season Sets

1.) I finally got to see Wes Anderson’s new film “Moonrise Kingdom” yesterday and let me just say that it was well worth the wait. That movie was incredible, 4 stars 4 sure. But then again, I love practically all (I’m looking at you Darjeeling Limited) of Wes Anderson’s movies so maybe I’m not the best person to go to for an unbiased opinion. It’s too early to say that it’s definitely his best movie, but I think that it’s in the conversation. Royal Tenenbaums still probably holds the crown though in my opinion (it’s hard to beat lines…

The Jinx

Article By the Wolfman All too often in following sports we attribute outcomes (at least in my family and circle of friends) to things that we do during the course of a game. When things are going wrong we switch jerseys, change seats, flip channels, or turn our hats backwards. Of course, we are usually hundreds of miles away from where these events take place, often thousands, so it is very unlikely that we have any real impact on the outcome whatsoever. Yet, for some reason every time Randy writes something positive about the Sixers we all cringe. And…

The Thunder Are Built to Last

Built to last till time itself falls tumbling from the wall Built to last till sunshine fails and darkness moves on all Built to last while years roll past like cloudscapes in the sky Show me something built to last or someone built to try—Grateful Dead Bill Walton would be proud. Starting out an article using a Grateful Dead song to describe an NBA team. That song–I think–is about how nothing lasts forever, not even TIME (far out). My counter argument to the Grateful Dead would be to look at the Oklahoma City Thunder. They my friends, are built…

McNabb Frolics in the Ocean

You know, it gets kind of hard to write these posts sometimes. There’s only so much to talk about on a weekly basis.  And I’m lazy. But every once in awhile, a video comes along that changes EVERYTHING!  This week, that video came as I was listening to Dave Dameshek’s superb NFL.com podcast (for those of you who have never heard Dameshek, do yourself a favor and give him a listen. High comedy). If you haven’t seen the video, just follow this link. (Again, too lazy to imbed but maybe Randy will after I post this). The highlights of…

Cleaning Up Like Danny Tanner

Hey, I’m a cartoon now! Sweet! 1.) Here is all you need to know about how obnoxious ESPN’s coverage of Jeremy Lin has gotten: Last night the Knicks played the Heat and you know what?  I was rooting for the Heat to win! Goodness, it hurts to write that, but it’s true!  I would’ve rather had Lebron James destroy those fools and put a (albeit brief) stop to all the Jeremy Lin madness. Look, I get it, it’s rare that something like this happens. But on Saturday morning, I turned on ESPN and they had an interview with Lin…

Moonshining Envelopes

1.) If you haven’t watched that show “Moonshiners” yet, do yourself a favor and check it out.  HILARIOUS. Here is all you need to know: It’s a show about moonshiners in Appalachia who set up hidden stills to brew moonshine and they’re named things like “Popcorn” and “Tickle.” Tickle, by the way, is almost always going to do something hysterical. And yes, it is seems like moonshine fumes and drinking mash liquor for his entire life has turned his brain to mush.  Go figure. 2.) I still haven’t watched that Full Metal Jousting show that my cousin recommended, but…

Date with Ikea

1.) For the record, Blake Griffin’s “Dunk” over Kendrick Perkins was not technically a dunk.  Remember a few years back when Dwight Howard put on the Superman cape and jumped up and chucked the ball into the hoop during the dunk contest?  A lot of people cried “That’s not a dunk!” Well, that is exactly what Griffin did to Perkins.  He jumped really high, got fouled and chucked the ball into the hoop.  Impressive?  OF COURSE!  Dunk?  I think not. Kevin Durant agrees with me! 2.) Robert Kraft, owner of the Patriots, recently said, “We’re red, white and blue…
