It’s the Return

To quote my friend Big B from one of his brilliant 1999 back yard wreslting promos: “He’s Back! He’s BACK! Oooooooooh Lord HE’S BACK!” Fresh off an awesome wedding and an absolutely perfect honeymoon to Costa Rica, it’s time to do some NFL Picks!  By the way, quick aside, if you’re going to make a trip any time soon, I cannot recommend Costa Rica highly enough. You can use American dollars, you can get by with your crappy 8th grade Spanish (actually, I took two semesters in College…but, yeah, I didn’t really pay that much attention to it), and…

The NL East, The Big East, and Dan LeBatard Eats

Welcome back, boys and girls. It’s been a pretty amazing week. The Phillies clinched the NL East with a win over the Cardinals on Saturday. Chase Utley’s barehanded grab to make the last out was symbolic of our entire season. We could do things the more traditional way, but instead, we’ll just make it look easy. Get your cameras ready, we’re making a highlight reel. College football is changing. Smaller schools and smaller conferences are starting to get bullied around by the bigger fish in the pond. The ACC is starting to make moves that strangely look like they…

The Fantasy Gods Have Smiled & Football Picks

Mercy. It’s been a wild week. Between Adam’s wedding, reception, rehearsal dinner, and football, I’ve had barely any time to stay sober. Sobriety is a man’s best time to collect his thoughts and assess sports, although a drunken stupor is certainly the best time to enjoy them. Adam’s wedding was awesome. Aside from DJ “Tommy T” being an absolute waste of life, the wedding went off without a hitch. The reception came with 4 different kinds of pasta! That’s like a Young Jeezy rap lyric or something, isn’t it? Every 80’s cliche song was played, and I lost my…

NFL Picks!

There was a magical time not too long ago when Adam and Randy lived together. Aside from tiny squabbles about who needed to clean the wretched bathroom, our home was a perfect “man-cave” for sports, sports discussion, and the occasional playing of Golden Eye on N64. Part of the reason this blog exists is due to the fact that we constantly disagreed on our predictions for the upcoming NFL season. So, one year, we decided to get a pen and paper, write down our predictions, and post it up on the fridge for the entire season. Who won that…

We’ve Got the Coolest Fantasy (and Weddings) Around

First, I gotta talk about this guy. Way to be, fellah. If you didn’t see it, my man in the Phillies jersey over here decided to lean over the railing to catch what was going to be Hunter Pence’s double. Marlin’s outfielder Bryan Petersen complained that it interfered with his catch (which it did) and the umpires got together to review the play. All the while, our friend in the stands sits on his cell phone, radiating with glee because of the amazing event that just happened to him! He couldn’t have had a bigger smile. Does he not…

Don’t Tug on Superman’s Cape

1.) Grantland, it’s bad enough that all you turned out to be is a massive disappointment, churning out articles that read like a “try to write like Bill Simmons” contest, but now you’re going after the Phillies, and more specifically, Ryan Howard. In his article “Father Time and the Philadelphia Phillies,” Rany Jazayerli takes on the Phillies and how they are old and won’t be good in the not so distant future. A few points about this article: He writes: “We’re almost halfway through this column and I haven’t mentioned a hitter yet. There’s a reason for that —…

We All Need a Savior, Mine Is Cam Newton

I’m frightened, gang. Frightened because the off-season is almost over and I’m not sure how things are going to end up. No, I’m not talking about football. I’m talking about the NBA. Obviously ESPN isn’t constantly discussing labor agreement talks for the NBA like they did with the NFL, so let me give you an update…. IT’S ALL OVER MAN!! Reports indicate that neither side is close to an agreement, and with many NBA players signing oversees, the future looks bleak. Roger Goodell didn’t have the threat of players leaving his league and signing elsewhere during his negotiations. David…
