Matt Cord Returns as Sixers PA Announcer!!!
Last year, Matt Cord was promoted, of sorts, in the Sixers organization and no longer held the title of PA announcer from all of the Sixers’ games in Wells Fargo. Tom Lamaine filled the position during the very short 2011-12 season and basically destroyed it. For 2 reasons: 1) Tom Lamaine compared play-by-play announcing at a basketball game to weather reports on the weekly news 2) Matt Cord was probably the coolest PA announcer in the history of basketball Seriously, it was so awesome hearing Matt Cord scream “AAAANDREEEYYYY IGUUOOOOOO (pause) DALA DALA DALA DALA!!!” during home games.
