Doug Collins, NBA Playoffs, and Iggy’s Comeback Season

It’s been a rough season Sixers fans, but I am thankful to report that with tonight’s game, the season will finally be over. The Sixers play the Pacers in Indiana, just after the recent announcement that Doug Collins will resign as head coach. This was right after his recent announcement that he was not resigning as head coach. That came right after Sixers’ ownership released a statement backing Collins as the head coach of the future. Real classy Philadelphia. There’s a lot of speculation that Collins will remain with the Sixers as a consultant (which is probably what he wanted…

Reggie Miller Tweets About Andrew Bynum

Reggie Miller decided to post his 2 cents on the Andrew Bynum debacle recently and it might be the best summation of the Andrew Bynum situation that I’ve heard all year. The reality, is however, that Andrew Bynum’s career could quite possibly be over. I don’t think Reggie Miller took that into consideration when he tweeted this: Can’t wait to see what lame brain GM will spend max dollars on Bynum next season.Feel bad for Coach Collins, you guys gambled and lost.. — Reggie Miller (@ReggieMillerTNT) March 19, 2013 Coach Collins was really polite and considerate in his address…

Thoughts on Andrew Bynum and the Sixers Future

Last week Andrew Bynum announced to the public that he basically isn’t going to play for the Sixers this season. The announcement was vague at best, but in summation, Bynum was questioned about his future here, his knees, his chances of playing basketball next season, and where that may be. All of his answers were dismissive or apathetic. Later that week, CSN writer John Gonzalez sat down with Sixers’ CEO Adam Aron to talk about the Andrew Bynum situation, if we plan on resigning him, and where the Sixers are headed in the future. It’s a great interview, and…

The Last Andrew Bynum Update for the 2013 Season

Andrew Bynum finally addressed the media after his first full-contact practice that occurred last Friday, the 22nd. Essentially, he will never play for the Philadelphia 76ers, or at least not in the 2012-13 season. The swelling in Bynum’s knee was still evident, even after a full week. The guarantees that Bynum offered before last Friday’s practice seem like a distant memory, and he was even willing to admit that it’s late in the season and the likelihood of him playing is small. The sad reality, for both Philadelphia and Andrew Bynum fans alike, is that the former All-Star center…

Is Doug Collins On The Burner?

After last night’s incredibly pathetic loss to the Orlando Magic, Doug Collins held his usual post-game press conference but decided to be a bit more candid in his answers. Collins openly blasted several players for their lack of effort and continued to shift the blame from his lack of coaching to ambiguous factors like cohesiveness and intensity. The wheels are all but falling off of the 2012-13 76ers’ season… Your browser does not support iframes. With a press conference like that, you can’t help but feel frustrated. On one hand, it’s nice to hear Doug Collins hold players accountable…

Let’s Rate Our Sixers!

It’s been an unbelievably brutal season for the 76ers and their fans this year. It seems like forever ago I was sitting directly behind Iguadala on opening day as the Nuggets came to town for our season opener. Those were wonderful times. There was so much promise and hope for the season. I remember seeing Andrew Bynum that night, feeling anxious and uncertain about his future here. There was a bit more excitement back then, but the uncertainty and confusion is about the exact same. Now that the All-Star break is over, things look completely different, and I’m trying…
